475 Smoke-Free Campus

RATIONALE:   Oakland University (University) is dedicated to providing a healthy, comfortable and productive environment for students, employees and guests.

POLICY:   Smoking, including the use of electronic smoking devices (vaping), hookahs, and marijuana, is prohibited on or in all University owned or operated Campuses and Grounds, and in all University owned or operated Buildings and Vehicles.

SCOPE AND APPLICABILITY:  无烟政策适用于所有大学拥有或经营的物业, facilities, and Vehicles, owned or leased, regardless of location, except for the private residences in the Meadow Brook Subdivision.  Smoking and vaping shall not be permitted in any enclosed place, including, but not limited to, all offices, work areas, classrooms, laboratories, hallways, elevators, stairwells, waiting rooms, restrooms, break rooms, conference and meeting rooms, community areas, performance venues and private residential space within University housing.  禁止在户外吸烟和吸电子烟, including, but not limited to, parking lots, paths, fields, sports/recreational areas, stadiums, construction sites, and outdoor seating areas, as well as in all personal Vehicles while on campus.  This policy applies to all University students, faculty, staff, contractors, vendors and other persons on campus, regardless of the purpose for their visit.

DEFINITIONS:

Campuses means any physical site owned or operated by Oakland University.

Electronic Smoking Device (ESD) 指任何含有或输送尼古丁或任何其他物质的产品，任何人可以任何方式使用，以吸入该产品产生的蒸汽或气溶胶.  The term includes any such device, whether manufactured, distributed, marketed, or sold as an e-cigarette, e-cigar, e-pipe, e-hookah, or vape pen, or under any other product name or descriptor.  

Grounds means property owned or leased by Oakland University.

Hookah 指用于产生烟雾的水管及任何相关产品和装置, smoke, and/or vapor from the burning of material including, but not limited to, tobacco, shisha, or other matter whether natural or synthetic

Tobacco Product   means a product that contains Tobacco and is intended for human consumption, including, but not limited to, cigarettes cigars, pipes, and any other non-cigarette Smoking Tobacco Product.  Tobacco Product also includes marijuana related products and derivatives, ESD and vaping products, materials used in Hookah's and similar products.  

Tobacco related  means the use of a Tobacco Product brand or corporate name, trademark, logo, symbol, or motto, selling message, recognizable pattern or colors, or any other indicia of product identical to or similar to, or identifiable with, 任何烟草制品品牌或生产烟草制品的公司使用的商标.  

Vehicles mean any University owned or leased automobiles, buses, service vehicles, golf carts, and maintenance equipment.  

PROCEDURES:

In accordance with Policy 402, the President or his/her designee, or the appropriate Vice President for the AP&P’s Responsible Office may approve exceptions to AP&P's.
